Indiana Regional Medical Center (IRMC) provides prenatal and family programs that have been recognized on both the state and national levels for excellence. Our programs are great!
Our Mission
The IRMC Family Programs Staff works with other IRMC departments, community groups and organizations to empower families through a wellness model of education to make informed decisions regarding their health and care.
Our Team

Our Programs
- Birth of the Family programs are specific to pregnancy, labor, birth and early parenthood.
- Parent support programs offer a chance for new parents to meet other new parents and enjoy new experiences with their babies.
- Growing Together programs relate to parents, children and grandparents.
- Community programs include CPR education.

Birth of the Family Workshops
Your Blossoming Belly
Provides information about managing normal physical and emotional changes during pregnancy, nutrition, exercise, and stress management. Recommended before 20 weeks.
Offered the first Thursday of each month. No charge
The Lamaze Series
Four-class series emphasizes the birth process, comfort and coping strategies for labor, childbirth choices and postpartum.
Offered Tuesday evenings.
Lamaze Weekend Class
Includes the same material as the Lamaze series.
Offered every other month, Friday night from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Lamaze Private Class
This three hour session also includes the same information as the Lamaze series. Must be scheduled by calling 724-357-7496.
We bill all insurances for the Lamaze and Childbirth classes, but we also offer a $65 package price. If paid up front, this price also includes Breastfeeding and All About Baby workshops.
All About Baby
This workshop focuses on understanding the newborn, safety and hygiene, comforting your baby, and when to call the baby's health care provider. Grandparents and childcare providers are invited to attend along with parents.
Offered the second Thursday of each month. $15
Breastfeeding Workshop
Provides information about the benefits of breastfeeding, getting off to a good start, and continuing to breastfeed after returning to work or school.
Offered the first Saturday of each month. $15 per couple.
Maternity Center Tour
Free one-hour tour providing information and an opportunity for families to see the Maternity Center and meet some of the staff before their baby is born.
Offered the third Monday of each month.
Young Parents Birthing Classes (Teens)
Taught by IRMC staff in partnership with the ARIN IU 28.

Growing Together Programs*
Infant/Child CPR
A three-hour workshop concentrating on learning what to do for an infant or child who is choking or has a respiratory or cardiac arrest. Approved by the American Heart Association. $25 per person.
Let’s Talk for Girls and Mothers
A two-hour program for girls 9 to 12 and their mothers to talk about physical and emotional changes that are taking place in their lives. $15 per child and adult.
Home Alone and In Control
A three-hour program that teaches children ages 9 to 12, with the help of their parents, how to prepare for and manage time at home on their own. $15 per child and adult.
ABCs of Babysitting
A two-day class that teaches students ages 12 and older what to do when babysitting. An American Heart Association-approved program to treat a choking child or provide resuscitative measures is included. $50 per person.

Parent Support Services
Moms and Babes
A fun and informal weekly gathering for moms and babies.
Offered Wednesday mornings (except the last Wednesday of the month) 10 a.m. in the IRMC Outpatient Building. No charge. For Information call 724.357.7496 or email mothershare@yahoo.com.
RIGHT from the Start
A monthly fun-filled experience for moms with their babies from birth to one year, including sign language, music and dance, massages and more!
Offered the second Wednesday of each month. No charge. Call IRMC Scheduling Office at 724.357.7075.
IRMC In-Hospital Lactation Visits
For moms giving birth at IRMC and breastfeeding their babies. Call Carolyn White, IBCLC, at 724.357.8187, or e-mail cwhite@indianarmc.org with breastfeeding questions or to set up an appointment.
Community Programs
Heartsaver AED
This three-hour workshop includes information about adult, child and infant choking, CPR and how to use an AED.
Offered Saturday mornings several times throughout the year. $35 per person (group rates available). For information, call 724.357.7496.
